Directed and co-written by Meghna Gulzar, the Vicky Kaushal starrer Samबहादुर is one of the most highly anticipated projects in Bollywood. The film is based on the life and times of one of the bravest sons of the soil and one of the greatest war heroes, Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.

The film is one of the biggest projects of Vicky Kaushal’s career after the National Award winning film Uri: The Surgical Strike, which won critical acclaim and gave recognition to the actor and his talent.
Sam Bahadur marks the second biographical film of Vicky Kaushal, who is going to portray the iconic role of Sam Manekshaw after Shoojit Sarkar directorial Sardar Udham, based on the life of the great Indian freedom fighter Sardar Udham Singh, which won 9 Filmfare Awards including Best Film (critic) and Best Actor (Critic) to Vicky Kaushal at the 67th Filmfare Awards 2022 and Best Actor Award in IIFA 2022.
While Vicky is playing the title role, the film also stars Dangal girls, Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh, in the lead roles. While Sanya is playing Field Marshal Sam Makeshaw’s wife, Silloo Bode, the latter will feature as the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi.

Produced by Ronnie Screwwala, the much anticipated film is set to be released theatrically on December 1, 2023. Interestingly, the makers chose Thursday, December 1, 2022, as the day to announce the release date of the film.
The announcement was made by dropping a video showcasing a battalion of army officers paving the way for Sam Bahadur. As soon as the sneak peek from the film was released, it created a lot of buzz, with all praise going to Vicky Kaushal for perfectly imitating the signature walking style of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.

The film has been a topic of conversation since its announcement due to Vicky’s realistic portrayal and uncanny resemblance of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, and that’s why it’s creating a lot of buzz and people are excited to watch it on the big screen.

About the Film
Along with Meghna Gulzar, Bhavani Iyer, and Shantanu Srivastava, they also wrote the film. The team started shooting of hte first schedule in August this year, and it was filmed in five cities for over two months.
The film cover the life-events of Filed Marshal Sam Hormusji Framji Jamshedji Manekshaw, also, widely known as Sam Manekshaw or Sam Bahadur. He was the Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971 and was the first Army Chief to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal. His Army career spanned over four decades and five wars.
The film will show how Manekshaw played a critical role in liberating East Pakistan, which is modern day Bangladesh, from the oppression and exploitation of the Pakistani Army.
