Popular south Indian actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu is all geared up to appear on the big screens with her highly anticipated film Shaakuntalam. It will mark her first pan India project.
Shaakuntalam is written and helmed by Gunasekhar, who is the director of the national awardee film Ramayanam (1997). The film is based on India’s one of the greatest ancient poets Kalidasa’s popular play Shakuntala.
Synopsis
Shakuntala explores the life journey of the protagonist Sakuntala, from her parents abandoning her to the birth of her son Bharata. It is said to be that the name Bharat or Bharatavarsha or The land of Bharat for India derives from Shakuntala’s son Bharata.
As per the producer Neelima Guha, Samantha was industrious for her role, she even developed rashes cause of heavy jewelry that she had to put on but the actress didn’t hesitate and went that extra mile to perform her character says a report.
Shaakuntalam Release Date
Shaakuntalam went on the floors in March 2021 and concluded the shooting in Aug 2021, the film is currently in its post-production phase. As per reports soon the makers will reveal the release date of Shaakuntalam.
It will be released pan India, in multi-language Telugu including dubbed version Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. It will also mark Samantha’s first pan India film.

Samantha on Feb 21 (Monday) took to Twitter to launch the first look poster of her highly buzzed epic saga film, featuring herself dressed in a white, angel-like poster of her garnered over 30 k likes in three days.

The trailer of the film is expected soon. National awardee costume designer Neeta Lulla was on board for the costume designing and from the poster, it seems that she has done her part aptly.
