Shabaash Mithu is a biographical sports film, it stars Tapsee Pannu. As per the reports, it is the actress’s career’s costliest film to date. The film has been released in cinemas and below is all you need to know about it.
The film is based on the life of a former Indian cricket team captain Mithali Raj who is responsible for the rise of the women’s cricket team in the last 2 decades, it is directed by national awardee filmmaker Srijit Mukherji. Produced by Sirsha Rey under the banner of Viacom 18 Studios and Colosceum Media.
Reviews
The early reviews for the film are out, it received mostly positive response from the critics, they praised the performance of Tapsee Pannu as Mithali, and the general consensus from the critics read that the film deserved to be watched. NDTV’s Saibal Chatterjee gave 3/5 stars, Sonil Dedhia of News 18 3/8, TOI’s Rachana Dubey rated 3 stars out of 5, and Himesh Mankad from Pinkvilla gave 3 out of 5 stars.

Box Office Collection Day 1
Tapsee starrer despite the rave reviews from the critics, unfortunately, opens with low figures, as per the pinkvilla, Shabaash Mithu opened with a very low start at the box office, it accumulated only Rs 40 Lakhs on its first day.
Despite receiving positive reviews from the critics, it underperformed majorly, however, it is remained to be seen if the word of mouth draws in moolah at the cash registers over the weekend or not. Rocketry, The Kashmir Files, Vikram (Hindi), Major (Hindi) also opened to a slow start but with the help of the audience’s word of mouth, the business of these films increased leaps and bounds in the coming days.
Screen Counts and Budget
As per Amar Ujala Hindi, it is made with a budget of Rs 25-30 Cr as Tapsee in one of the interviews herself admits, it is her most expensive film to date but the budget of the film is tantamount to an A-lister actor’s fees. The film is expected to have released in around 1000 screens in India.
