“Shamshera” which is made on a huge budget is on the verge of ending its theatrical run below the Rs 50 Cr mark. The film had created much anticipation among the viewers before its release.
It was opened with negative responses from the critics and was rejected by the audience at the box office on the very first day. It was estimated to take a flying start at the box office with over Rs 15 Cr but end up collecting Rs 10.5 Cr.
It features Ranbir Kapoor, who made his comeback on the big screens after 4 yrs. Directed by Karan Malhotra of Agneepath fame and produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj films. It looks like the 150 Cr budget film turned out to be, not a very lucrative business for the makers.

Box Office (1st-week report)
The film opened with below par performance at the box office, it accumulated only Rs 10.25 Cr on Day 1 further showing minimal growth over the weekend, it collected Rs 31.75 Cr on weekend 1.
It witnessed a major drop on the fourth day of over 74% and collected only Rs 2.80 Cr. Ranbir’s led was steady on Tue but again witnessed a 24% drop on Wed making its dream of a respectable first week, over and out.
Ranbir’s film collections were lower than Samrat Prithviraj, another dud from Yash Raj Films, in all circuits. It failed to live up to the expectations of the mass audience. The total week 1 domestic collection of Shamshera stands at Rs 40.45 Cr, as per Bollywood Hungama.

The downtrend continues on Fri, it is expected to show subpar growth over the weekend. It collects Rs 1 cr on Day 8(Fri) to take the total collections of Shamshera to Rs 41.45 Cr, as per the trade estimation. Thus, the Rs 50 Cr lifetime becomes a difficult task for the film, it seems it will end up its theatrical run Rs 45-48 Cr range.
