Sharmaji Namkeen is the last film of the late actor Rishi Kapoor, it is a light-hearted coming-of-age comedy film, that follows the story of self-realization and discovery.
Rishi Kapoor passed away on April 3, 2020, owing to cancer, veteran actor Paresh Rawal stepped in to complete the remaining portion of the late actor’s role. With it, the film became the first Hindi film that features two actors playing the same character.
Rishi Kapoor starrer produced by Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani, Honey Trehan, and Abhishek Chaubey under the banner Excel Entertainment in association with MacGuffin Pictures.
The first look poster of the film was unveiled on the 69th birth anniversary of Rishi Kapoor, featuring the latter holding briefcase and wandering with a smiling face.

Sharmaji Namkeen OTT Release
Digital platform Amazon Prime recently (March 9) announced that they would be premiering the film on 31 March 2021, on the streaming platform. Announcing the film they wrote, “All Rise, For the First Time 2 Legends Have Arrived To Cook up Something Namkeen and add Some Spice To Your Life”
They also released two posters while announcing the release date. The first poster features Rishi Kapoor with a smiling face, and the second poster features the late actor and Paresh Rawal wandering with a smiling face donning the same clothes.

Earlier reports were suggesting that the film will hit the theatres in Sept 2021, but the Amazon platform has now confirmed that the film will be released digitally via the streaming platform.

Sharmaji Namkeen follows the story of a man who after retirement finds an interest in cooking joining a full-of-fun women kitty circle. It features the legendary actors Paresh Rawal and Rishi Kapoor performing the same role.
Other actors include Juhi Chawla, Satish Kaushik, Parmeet Sethi, Sheeba Chaddha, Garima Aggarwal, Ayesha Raza, Taaruk Raina, Sulagna Panigrahi, Suhail Nayyar, Gufi Paintal, Shivaani Sopuri, and Madhu Anand Chandhok.

Hitesh Bhatia helmed the project, also co-wrote it with Supartik Sen, it is backed by Excel Entertainment in association with MacGuffin Pictures and Sony Pictures International Productions.
Piyush Puty cranked the camera, and the editing is done by Bodhaditya Banerjee. The teaser and trailer of the Paresh-Rishi starrer is expected soon.
