Disney+Hotstar, one of the leading OTT platforms, announced a slate of its upcoming projects in the D23 Expo, which is the biggest fan fest event of Disney and held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.
It was the 7th edition of the event and was held from September 9 to 11, 2022. The upcoming slate of Disney also includes some Indian projects as part of Hotstar special and it is web-series Showtime.
Karan Johar Announces New Series Showtime
Bollywood’s ace filmmaker announced a new web series Showtime which is based on his favourite subject- the secret of Bollywood. The show was first teased at D23 Expo and then KJO also took to social media to announce it. He shared a short 41-second announcement video clip of the show.
In the video we hear the voiceover of the filmmaker which says “What is cinema? where in dream we dream with our eyes open and these dreams are controlled by the one who sits in the producer’s chair. So who will capture the throne of Bollywood’s most powerful studio? Will it be youngblood restless for revolution or a hardened warrior who believes in the old order. The Battle lines are drawn and only one of them will become the emperor of dreams.

About the Show
Reportedly, the show will be headlined by Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi, who was last seen in supernatural horror film Dybbuk, which was released directly on Amazon Prime Video in October 2021. Talking about the series it will give an inside look at India’s movie industry, which is the largest music market anywhere in the world and it is produced by KJo’s Dharamatic Entertainment.
Show OTT Release Date
However, the makers haven’t revealed about the release date of the show, it is being said that it will be launched in the mid 2023 only on Disney+Hotstar.
Besides Showtime, an Indian web adaptation of “Mahabharat” as well as the 8th edition of KJo’s beloved chat show “Koffee with Karan” was also announced. The epic series is expected to premiere in 2024 whereas the latter will grace the platform in 2023.
