Squid Game fans have a new reason to rejoice! The biggest web series of Netflix is speculated to see a sequel to its first season. Greenlight or red light, the second season is much awaited!
Created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, the Squid Game season 1 was released on September 17, 2021. The series managed to be recognized globally with a whopping earning of over 800 million dollars and was the top viewed web series in more than 94 countries.
Now Netflix has created Twitter emoji for this successful web series, which hints towards the second season soon. Recently, the series won several awards at SAG Awards.

Squid Game Season 2 Plot
The first season of the epic Squid Game ended up with a very open ending. It’s up to us how we decipher it and choose to interpret it. We see G-hun walking out as the winner of the game and processing the trauma that he had to face throughout, losing one of his close friends in the last stage.
The climax of the story is unleashed when we see that the old man that G-hun befriended was actually the creator of the whole game! He feels betrayed and enraged even more and soon after the man dies!
While boarding a flight to Los Angeles, Gi-hun comes to know that the Squid game is still on and a candidate is being recruited in front of him. He rushes to stop him. Now, this can be taken as an opening to the next chapter with Gi-hun avenging the creators of the game and stopping it once and for all!
In a recent interview with a leading press, the creator of the series, Hwang Dong-hyuk said that right now it is too early to say anything about the second season but it is in his head for sure. He added that after finishing the first season he was in no mood to go ahead with the second but with such a big hit and appreciation from the fans, he said the fans would hate him if he didn’t make a second season!
Now the question arises that will Gi-hun be successful in completing his quest for ending the squid game or will he himself end up entering the squid world yet again?
Apart from this, there are other stories also that had a loose ending in the first season. For instance, the story of the police officer and his brother, The frontman, the recruiter who gives Gi-hun the card and plays the game of ddakji with him in the first episode! Hwang was sure that the second season might have a lot many new strings attached to it and would take time to execute.
Squid Game Season 2 Star Cast
If the second season actually comes up, we would absolutely see Lee Jung-Jae in his character as Gi-hun and since most of the characters died, we would see a whole lot of new faces!
Squid Game Season 2 Release Date
Hwang Dong-hyuk confirmed that season 2 is surely in his head but will take some time for its making. He added, even if they start shooting for it today, it would not be released before the end of 2023. Just like its first season, season 2 will most probably be released on Netflix at least.
