Kollywood superstar Suriya, who has won the hearts of his fans with his exceptional performances in Jai Bhim, Soorarai Pottru and many others, is now set to star in one of the biggest projects of his career.
Touted-to-be a Pan-India period action adventure film, his next project is tentatively titled as Suriya 42, as it is the 42nd project of the superstar’s career. Its production began in August 2022, however, the official title is yet to be announced by its makers.
It is written and directed by filmmaker Sivakumar Jayakumar, popularly known as Siva. He has directed acclaimed films including Veeram, Vedalam, Vivegam, Viswasam and Annaatthe, all of which are ranked among the highest grossing Tamil Films.
This upcoming, much-hyped Pan India project marks the maiden collaboration between Suriya and Siva. Adi Narayana has written its screenplay whereas Madan Karky penned its dialogues.

Suriya 42 Cast & Crew
Produced by Vamsi-Pramod’s UV Creations in association with K.E. Ganavelraja’s Studio Green, the film stars actress Disha Patani in the female lead role against Suriya, who’s 2022 film released in Tamil action thriller film Etharkkum Thunindhavan, which turned out to be a big blockbuster. The film marks the Tamil debut of Disha Patani.
Meanwhile, the superstar has Vanangaan in the pipeline. Also, he will have a special cameo appearance in an untitled Hindi remake of his own film Soorarai Pottru, which won 5 awards in the prestigious 68th National Award ceremony including Best Actor Award to him. The remake will feature Akshay Kumar in the lead role.
Suriya 42 Hindi rights sold at 100 Crs
As per the reports, the Hindi rights of Suriya 42 have been acquired by Jayantilal Gada’s Pen Studios. The report also reads that Pen Studios have bought the satellite, digital and theatrical rights for the Hindi version of the film for a huge sum of Rs 100 crores.
Suriya 42 Production
The initial shooting for Suriya 42 kick started in Chennai with a pooja ceremony. Suriya and Disha Patani started shooting for the movie in Dec 2022 in Goa. The second schedule of filming began in Dec 2022.
Now, as per the reports, a major chunk of Suriya 42 has been concluded. The next schedule of the film will begin in the second week of Jan 2023. It is expected to wrap up completely by March-April 2023.
Suriya 42 Release Date
This grand project will be shot in 3D and Vetri Palanisamy will serve as the director of photography for it with Nishad Yusuf handling the editing work and Devi Sri Prasad on board to compose the music of the film.
The film described as “A Mighty Valiant Saga” will be released in 10 languages. The film will be released in two parts with the first part expected to release in cinemas in late 2023.
Suriya 42 Motion Poster
Suriya on Friday, September 9, 2022, announced the upcoming film and also dropped an intriguing motion poster on social media. The 1.5 minute long poster consists of special effects and it suggests a big screen period spectacle, which is a first in the careers of both Suriya and Siva.
The promo begins with an eagle flying across a battlefield, where we see horse-riding warriors fighting with one another with swords and axes. The eagle then flies to a warrior and sits on his shoulder whereas the warrior is standing on top of a cliff and watching the battle that’s raging below him. That lone warrior is Suriya’s character.
