Kollywood star Suriya Sivakumar was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on 23 July 1975 to the actor Palaniswamy or Sivakumar. The 46 yr old actor had started his filmy career journey with producer Mani Ratnam’s 1997 action thriller Nerrukku Ner at the age of 22.
The film was a commercial success, Suriya shared screen space in the film with Vijay who had already made his name among the Tamil cine-goers with blockbuster rom-com Poove Unakkaga.
Suriya’s full name is Saravanan Sivakumar, it was the producer Mani Ratnam who gave him the name Suriya. Tasting success with the first film, the actor later struggled to see the box office success until his major commercial success 2003 action thriller Kaakha Kaakha.
Suriya tied the knots in the year 2006 with the co-actor Jyothika after being in a relationship for several years, they both had appeared in films like Kaakha Kaakha, Perazhagan, and Poovellam Kettuppar.
He rose to fame in 2000’s with the films like Ghajini (2005), Vaaranam Aayiram (2008) and Ayan (2009). Since then the actor has never turned back and gave multiple successes at the box office Tamilnadu with three films of cop action thriller franchise Singham (2010-2017), AR Murugadoss directorial 7aum Arivu (2011), science fiction film 24 (2016), Soorarai Pottru (2020), Jai Bhim (2021), etc.
The Ghajini actor started his own production house 2D Entertainment in the year 2013, which has produced many accolades winning films like 24, Soorarai Pottru, and recently Jai Bhim. The production house has two films waiting to hit the screens Sarov Shanmugam directorial Oh My Dog, and Viruman starring Karthi, the latter is Suriya’s younger brother.

Suriya will next be seen in Suriya42, motion poster is out, helmed by Siva. Disha Patani will be starring in the main lead actress opposite Suriya, other actors Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala and Anand Rah.

Vaadivasal is a thriller set against the backdrop of Jallikattu sport, helmed by Vetrimaran. The filming of the movie went on the floors in July 2021 and is slated to hit the screens in the first half of 2022. Vaadivasal is based on the novel written by CS Chellappa.
GV Prakash is onboard for composing the music. There are reports that an OTT platform has bought the digital rights of the film for Rs 50 crore and will directly premiere on the digital screens though the makers are yet to confirm. Backed by Kalaipuli S Thanu under the banner V Creations.
Apart from this, the actor will also be seen singing a song ‘Cha Cha Charey’ in the multi starrer comedy thriller film Venkat Prabhu’s directorial Party, and the actor will be seen doing a cameo role in R.Madhavan upcoming biographical drama Rocketry: The Nambi Effect.
