Dhoni: The Untold Story, Paan Singh Tomar, 83 and many others. These sports biopics have developed fans’ interest in what people call a new age cinema.
Recently, we witnessed one more sports biopic “Praveen Tambe”, based on the life journey of India’s promising Cricket player who made his IPL debut at the age of 41. Get ready to witness another unique and promising biopic that is going to be inspirational and humorous. No this time we are not talking about a Sports biographical drama, titled Tarla will be based on the life of celebrated Indian food writer, Chef, Cookbook author and host of many Cooking shows. This is the first time the Hindi film industry will be depicting the true-life story of a chef on screen.
The late Kitchen queen, who died in 2013, ran the largest Indian food website, and published a bi-monthly magazine, “Cooking & More”. Her first cookbook was “The Pleasures of Vegetarian Cooking” which was published in 1974 and since then, she wrote over 100 books and shared more than 10 million copies. Her cooking shows include “The Tarla Dalal show” and “Cook It Up With Tarla Dalal”.

Versatile actress Huma Qureshi is playing the titular role in this upcoming biopic. She is among few actresses who has been touching new heights in the industry, recently shown her action avatar in Tamil film Valimai.
The “Gangs of Wasseypur ” actress is best known for movies like Dedh Ishkiya, Badlapur, Jolly LLB 2 and others. She was last seen in Valimai, starring megastar Ajith Kumar in the lead role. It was released on Feb 24, 2022 and opened to mixed response from audiences as well as critics. She also made her cameo in Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi.
Along with Huma, actor Sharib Hashmi is also playing a crucial role in the film ‘Tarla’. He is best known for playing J.K. Talpade in Amazon Prime Video’s spy thriller The Family Man, starring actor Manoj Bajpayee, who played his iconic character named Srinkant Tiwari.
The film is directed as well as written by debutant Piyush Gupta, who wrote films like Dangal and Chhichhore and it is bankrolled by Ronnie Screwvala, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Nitesh Tiwari under the banners RSVP and Earthsky. Gautam Ved is the co-writer of the film.
