It has been 23 days since Kangana Ranaut’s biographical film Thalaivii was released. The film has gained huge applause from the critics, but it couldn’t show its magic in cinema halls in India. The film’s collection isn’t standing up in front of its budget.
Kangana Ranaut is still struggling for her blockbuster, which she didn’t fetch from the past 7 movies of her. The film is based on former C.M of Tamilnadu’s late Jayalalithaa who was popularly known as Amma in the south. The film stars Kangana Ranaut, Arvind Swami directed by A.L. Vijay.
Thalaivii was released on Fri 10 Sept. on the occasion of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. Here is the 23 Days collection report of Thalaivi. It opened up with net India 1.20 cr, Hindi (20 lakh), Tamil+Telugu (1 cr.). On Weekend, Day 2 (Saturday 1.60 Crore), Day 3 (Sunday 1.80 cr.), faced downfall and collected on Day 4 (Monday- 60 lakh Nett India).
With lakhs on Weekdays, the film collected just 6.65 Cr. Nett. Second-week also starts with a low number, film released soon on OTT Platform Netflix on 25th Sep, and now all set to release on Amazon Prime Video on 10 Oct.
Hence the total collection of 23 Days of Thalaivii is around 14-15 crores Approximately. We can see from the figures above that Kangana is not able to pull the audience in theatres during this tough time of the corona pandemic where some theatres are closed and remaining open with only 50% occupancy.
Though the south people are coming in more numbers than the Hindi one, that too is not enough for this big-budget movie which is made of approx 80-90cr. to save it from the loss.
