Kollywood superstar Chiyaan Vikram, who is basking in the success of his epic historical period action drama film Ponniyin Selvan I & II, is all set for his next project, Thangalaan. The official teaser suggests that a thrilling movie experience is on the way.
The film is directed by ace filmmaker Pa. Ranjith, who is known for his blockbusters such as Madras, Kabali, Kaala, Sarpatta Parambarai, etc.
Thngalaan Release Date
Produced by Studios Green, KE Gnanavel Raja, and Neelam Productions, the big-budget pan-Indian film will be released in multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam. The official release date of the film is 26 January 2024.
Touted-to-be a period drama, the film, which was tentatively titled Chiyaan 61, has finally gotten its title, Thangalaan. On October 23, 2022, on the occasion of Diwali, the team revealed the title through a 1-minute announcement video that features Vikram as a tribal man who also seems to be the leader of his community. The video showcases him and the other characters of the film dressed with a rugged look.
Vikram is in a dangerous and fierce avatar. The biggie marks the first-ever collaboration between Vikram and Pa. Ranjith.
Thangalaan Star Cast
The film stars actor Vikram in the titular role, who fights for the rights of his community. It is one of the most ambitious projects of the actor, and it seems he has another blockbuster on the way after Ponniyin Selvan: 1 & 2.
Thangalaan has also created a lot of buzz since its announcement. Along with Vikram, the film also stars Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, and Harikrishnan Anbudurai in the lead roles.

The film has music and background score by GV Prakash, cinematography by A. Kishor Kumar, and an edition by Selva RK. Its story is written by Tamil Praba. Set against the backdrop of Kolar Gold Mines in the pre-independence era, the film is based on some true events.
It will explore the story of a tribal community that was considered untouchable and how its people suffered in order to save their land from the British government.
