Four times academy award nominee actor Ethan Green Hawke is coming with The Exorcism of Emily Rose(2005) and Doctor Strange (2016) fame Scott Derrickson directorial supernatural horror film The Black Phone which has already created the buzz among movie lovers from its trailer.
Critics Review
It had its world premiere on the annual film festival Fantastic Fest in Sept 2021 where it got a lot of appreciation from the critics specifically the direction of Scott and the Ethen’s acting of a negative role.
Production & Budget
Earlier director Scott was about to direct his 2016 superhero film Doctor Strange’s sequel namely Doctor Stranger in the Multiverse of Madness, but due to creative differences with the production house Marvel.
He left the project and commenced The Black Phone’s shooting from 9 Feb this year onwards which was already in his hands, filming completed on 27 March 2021. It is made up of an 18.8 million dollars budget (in INR around 139 crores).
The Black Phone Plot
It is set in the 1970s, it tells the story of a town named Colorado, where five children have already gone missing, now the no’s is of a 3yrs old shy but clever boy named Finney, who got trapped in a soundproof basement.
The searching of him begins, further, Finney found a disconnected phone on the wall which starts ringing, which was of from the earlier abducted dead people who don’t want to same happen with Finney. On the other hand, Finney’s sister starts recurring visions, which she thinks, could help to find his brother. it is based on the American writer Joe-Hill’s book of the same name.

The Black Phone Release Date
Earlier it was to release in Jan 2022 but the makers in October 2021 officially announced that the film is going to hit the theatres on 4 February 2022 in the United States. The trailer of it was released on Oct 2021, and it crossed 2 crores views within a month shows how much the people are waiting for this horror drama, it was launched on the distributors own official Youtube channel with the caption, ” The Phone is Dead. And it’s Ringing.”
