After a huge success of his recent release The Kashmir Files, which was based the genocide and exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Kashmir Valley, filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri is all set to work on a new project titled The Delhi Files.
National Award winning filmmaker Agnihotri is one of the few filmmakers of the film industry who always comes up with different concepts that consist of some serious messages for society. Whether it is The Kashmir Files or The Tashkent Files, based on the sudden demise of India’s 2nd Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, Agnihotri never stops to amaze the viewers by his brutally honest stories.
The Kashmir Files which was released theatrically on March 11, 2022, performed exceptionally well at the Box office and became the most successful film of post-pandemic time. Whether it is Prabhas’s Radhe Shyam or Akshay’s Bachchan Pandey, no big ticket film could spare itself from being hit by the Tsunami of TKF. Audience chose TKF over these biggies.
However, Tkf, starring Agnihotri’s wife actress Pallavi Joshi, veteran actors like Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty and actor Darshan Kumar, also found itself surrounded by many controversies. Some big non-BJP politicians called out the film for promoting the ruling BJP’s agenda while on the other side some called it a masterpiece which brings a deliberately hidden truth in front of the world. The film has broken all records of earnings by minting over Rs. 330 crore.

About The Delhi Files
Like The Kashmir Files, which was based on the real events of the mass killings and exodus of Kashmiri Hindus from the Kashmir Valley, Vivek’s new project will also follow the real incidents of anti- Sikh riots, that took place in 1984, after the assassination of the then Prime Minister of India on October 31, 1984, which results in the killings of more than 3000 innocent Sikhs in New Delhi and and an estimated 8000-17000 killing of Sikhs across 40 cities around the country.
This is one of the darkest chapters of India’s history where the Sikh community was targeted and a series of organized killings of the community. The attackers carried iron rods, clubs, petrol, diesel and entered Sikh neighborhoods to kill them. The violence continued in Punjab in the 1980s due to the armed separatist Khalistan movement, which sought independence from India.
