After Giving the Sleeper hit film The Tashkent Files(2019) which was based on the sudden demise of former Indian prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.
Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri is back with another gut-wrenching story with The Kashmir Files. It explores the story of the genocide and exodus of Kashmiri Pandits, an unfortunate event that happened in past.
First Look Poster
TKF is written as well as directed by Vivek himself, he also bankrolled the film along with Tej Narayan Agarwal, Abhishek Agarwal, & his wife Pallavi Joshi.
In Aug 2019, he launched the first look poster of TKF 2019 and told a little synopsis about the film, ” It will be an Honest Investigation Into One Of The Biggest Human Tragedies.”

Release Date of The Kashmir Files
On Nov 19 Vivek through his Twitter post announced the release date of the film & said, ” Presenting The First Ever True Story of the Kashmir Genocide” he also launched the poster with it, where Kashmir’s saffronized map with wire binding was featured, in which the film’s title and below that The Right to Justice was written.
The Kashmir Files was to be released in theatres worldwide on Republic Day or 26 January 2022 but postponed like others due to COVID-19, now the film has been released on 11 March.

Star Cast of The Kashmir Files
The star cast includes many veteran actors of the film Industry Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, and Puneet Issar, along with them Mary Kom (2014) fame Darshan Kumar, Chinmay Mandlekar, Bhasha Sumbli are also playing significant roles in the movie.
Controversy
Earlier cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s father Yograj Singh was cast in TKF but later got replaced by Puneet Issar, due to Singh’s viral speech at Kisan Andolan. In June 2021, the line producer Saranha committed suicide by hanging, later Anupam Kher gave condolences to her family & wrote through his IG handle @anupamkher that “Depression Really is affecting The Younger Generation Drastically.”
Vivek Agnihotri talked about Kapil Sharma’s refusal to promote the film made several headlines, Kapil tweeted that never believe in a one-sided story.

The Director of Photography/Cinematographer is Udaysingh Mohite, Shankh Rajadhyksha is the Editor,& it is made under the production of Abhishek Agarwal Arts. The distributors of TKF are the ZEE Studios company, So, we can guess after the theatrical release, it will most likely be premiered on ZEE’s OTT platform Zee5.
Anupam Kher’s Mom gives a Review to TKF
Veteran actor Anupam Kher who is playing an important role in the film shows the film to his mother Dulari Kher then shared her video on social media.
