Popular Canadian sketch comedy and Emmy Award nominated show The Kids in the Hall that aired for 5 seasons from 1988 to 1995, is all set to return after a period of nearly 3 decades. The original series was a weird, quirky and surreal one, and was produced in Canada. It ran on HBO, Comedy Central, and even on CBS for a brief period.
In 1955, following the show’s ending, the comedy troupe came together again for a feature film called Brain Candy. There have been other reunions since then, such as the 2010 mini-series Death Comes to Town, and a pair of live tours in the 2000s.
Now, popular streamer Amazon Prime Video has resurrected the original series which developed a die-hard fan base and influenced thousands of comedians and performers. It is written, created and executive produced by Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney and Scott Thompson who are also the part of the “The Kids in the Hall” comedy troupe.
The series will be bankrolled by Lorne Michaels Broadway Video in association with Canadian production Project 10 for Prime Video. The news of the revival of this sketch comedy series comes with a sense of excitement and happiness for the fans.
The Kids in the Hall OTT Release Date
Amazon Prime Video has already revealed the official release date of the classic sketch comedy show. It will be premiered on the platform on May 13, 2022 in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. The 8-episode series is the continuation of the original show and is called the first Canadian Amazon Original Series.

Amazon Prime video released the two official trailers- Red Band trailer and Green Band trailer of their most awaited sketch comedy show The Kids in the Hall on April 14, 2022. It shows the members of the sketch group- Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney and Scott Thompson- waking up in a grave marked “The Kids in the Hall TV Show” along with 1989 to 1995, the dates the original series aired on CBC and HBO.
