The much-hyped Tamil film “The Legend” has been released in cinemas in all five languages Tamil along with dubbed versions Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. It is an action-entertainer which stars businessman turned actor Saravanan Arul playing a scientist in his debut film.
The film also marks the Kollywood debut of the Great Grand Masti actress Urvashi Rautela. Directed and written by the duo J.D-Jerry, they are making the comeback after 20 yrs. Arul along with playing the main lead also financed the film under his Sarvanana Productions.
Screen Counts
The film has occupied 2500 screens worldwide and is releasing on 650 screens alone in the home state Tamil Nadu, as per Times of India. It is said to be released on the same number of screens overseas and around 1200 screens across the country.
“The Legend” marks the debut of Sarvanan Arul as an actor, his film has been making headlines ever since it was announced, and the trailer of the film had taken social media by storm. In one of the interviews, Arul said that he sees Superstar Rajinikanth and Thalapathy Vijay as his role models.

Box Office Collection Day 1
The film occupied a good number of screens and there was excitement among the audience as well to watch the debutante actor on the big screens. However, the occupancy report of day 1 tells a different story. The film had an overall 16.70% occupancy on Day 1. As per the Filmibeat, it collects only Rs 2 Cr on the first day at the box office Tamil Nadu.
It is locked horns with the much anticipated pan India Kannada film Vikrant Rona, which caused a dent in its collections across the country and to some extent in the home state also.

Now, as per the estimation, “The Legend” can make Rs 5 cr range on the first day. And further, it will all be up to the audience how they take the film as, if they are interested it could get a good run at the box office.
Review
“The Legend” receives mixed responses from the critics, they praised the technical parts of the film but panned the writing and the performances. M. Sughanth of Times of India gave the film 1.5 out of 5 stars, Movie crow rated the film 2 stars out of 5 and called the film in a waggish humor ‘unintentionally’ hilarious! The response from the audience are also mixed.
