Pakistani Punjabi film ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ has been making headlines ever since it was released in cinemas. The film has been creating a sensation at the box office. It has grossed over PKR 230 crores at the box office worldwide to become the highest-grossing Pakistani film of all time.
This time, the film has made the news for its India release. As per the reports, The Legend of Maula Jatt which was supposed to release in India on Dec 30 has been postponed.
The Legend of Maula Jatt India Release Date Postponed Indefinitely
The film was slated to be released in India on Dec 30 but going by the latest reports, The Legend of Maula Jatt has been postponed indefinitely. According to Press Trust of India (PTI), an INOX official told the news agency that the distributors have postponed the film and are yet to share any new release date.
PTI report cited an INOX official as saying, “We have been informed by the distributors that the release of the film has been postponed”, the INOX official further added, ” We were told this two-three days ago. No further date has been shared with us.”
The Legend of Maula Jatt Controversy
Pakistani films are banned in India after the 2016 URI attacks, thus, a lot of Indian audiences are against the film. Moreover, Pakistani actors are also banned from acting in Indian movies.
Recently one more reason to ban the movie has been highlighted on SM platforms. One of the actors of The Legend of Maula Jatt named Hamza Ali Abbasi earlier supported Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. OTT Release Date in India and Box Office
Talking about the OTT release date in India, The Legend of Maula Jatt might release in India on the Zee5 streaming platform as a lot of Pakistani dramas are available on the platform. Also, Zee5 is the subsidiary company of Zee Studios, which are the distributor of The Legend of Maula Jatt in India.
The Legend of Maula Jatt is a remake of the 1979 cult classic Maula Jatt. It went on to become the first Pakistani film to gross PKR 100 and 200 crores at the global box office becoming the first ever Pakistani film to achieve the feat.
