This time, Netflix is back again with something interesting an promising and that is its upcoming animated adventure film tilted The Sea Beast, which is directed as well as written by the Academy-award winning filmmaker and animator Chris Williams, best known for his work in animated musical adventure film Moana and Disney Plus’s animated superhero film Big Hero 6.
Williams was also nominated for Best Animated feature film for Bolt. He had worked in man projects in collaboration with Disney and now has now partnered with Netflix for this film.
The film marks the first solo feature directing gig of Williams. He also produced the film along with Jed Schlanger under Netflix Animation, a subsidiary of Netflix which produces and develops animated programs and feature films. Nell Benjamn has co-written the script of the film. It was originally titled “Jacob and the Sea Beast”.
The Sea Beast Voice Cast
The Sea Beast features Jacob Holland as its main character and it has the voice of New Zealand actor Karl Urban who is best known for appearing in many high-profile movies such as the second and third installments of “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, sci-fi Dredd, superhero film Thor: Ragnarok. Since 2019, he has starred as Billy Butcher in Amazon’s streaming television series “The Boys”.
Another key character of the film is named Maisie Brumble and British child actress Zaris- Angel Hator has given her voice for this character. Along with these two, the film also stars voice actors Jared Harris, Marianne Jean- Baptiste, Dan Stevens and Karthy Burke.
The Sea Beast Official Teaser
Netflix released the official teaser of its original animated underwater adventure film on March 30, 2022. The nearly 2-minute long trailer looks impressive and shows some thrilling shot of roaring sea and a massive water creature clashing with the people onboard.
It follows the story of a young girl, Maisie Bruble, who stows away on a hunting ship of legendary monster hunter Jacob Holland in search of glory, fame and high adventure. Watch the teaser here:
The Sea Beast OTT Release Date
Netflix has announced the release date of this most-awaited animated adventure film and its is now confirmed that the film will have a direct-to-OTT release on the platform July 8, 2022.
