It is based on the British crime drama series David Evans directorial Unforgiven (2009) which was written by Sally Wainwright. The shooting commenced on 3 Feb 2020 and concluded on October 2020. It will release in limited theatres in the United States on 24 November 2021.

It is premiering on the leading streaming platform Netflix on 10 December 2021. The news was given by the distributor Netflix itself with the trailer launch of the film in Oct this year on their own official YouTube channel of the same name.
