The long-awaited Malayalam period drama Thuramukham was scheduled to release on 20 Jan but postponed. The film is based on 1940’s Kochi’s (Kerala) labor struggles.
It is directed by Rajeev Ravi and written by Gopan Chidambaram. Gopan got the motivation to write the film from his father’s (K.M Chidambaran) own play of the same name.
The film explores the events of the 1940s and 1950s Coachi, Kerala where the laborers fought for the abolishment of a scheme called “work Guarantee”, which was practiced at that time, In which the laborers to get the work, had to fetch a ticket called Chappa, whoever got the ticket only he would get the chance to work for a day in the godowns.

Thuramukham Release Date
The shooting of the film was completed in Jan 2020, since then the makers are trying to put the film in theatres but owing to corona, it hasn’t been possible. However it was to release in May 2021, but due to the rise in covid-19 cases in Kerala, the film was delayed.
Now the film was officially confirmed to release on 20th Jan 2022, postponed indefinitely, COVID-19 cases are increasing but this film has already been pending for a long.
The teaser of it was released on 13 May 2021 on Surya Tv’s official YouTube channel, Nivin Pauly’s fans are really excited to watch him in Mattancherry Moidu’s role. The official trailer of the film hasn’t been released yet, it is expected to release by mid-Nov.
