2018’s critically acclaimed Hindi mythological horror film Tumbbad completed its four years on Wednesday, October 12, The film was one of India’s most iconic films based on a unique subject and received lots of appreciation from fans and critics.
As the film celebrated its fourth anniversary, the lead actor and producer of the film, Sohum Shah, shared that the film will always remain his proudest accomplishment, not just because of the love and appreciation it received from across the globe but also because of the literal sweat, tears, blood and the effort it took to get completed.
Directed by Rahi Anil Barve, Anand Gandhi, and Adesh Prasad, Tumbbad premiered at several prestigious international film festivals, including the 75th Venice International Film Festival, Fantastic Fest, Sitges Film Festival, and 23rd International Film Festival of Kerala.
It received several accolades and nominations at many prestigious award functions. Tumbbad bagged 8 nominations at the 64th Filmfare Awards and ended up winning three for Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, and Best Sound Design.
Is Tumbbad 2 Going to Release?
Since the success of Tumbbad, there has been a lot of speculation regarding whether the film is going to have a sequel or not. Well, as per recent media claims, Tumbbad 2 is most likely to happen as reportedly, the film’s makers, Sohum Shah, Rahi Anil Barve, and Adesh Prasad, are working hard to make Tumbbad 2 a reality.

On the fourth anniversary of Tumbbad, the fans were expecting the announcement of Tumbaad 2, however, it hasn’t happened yet. Going by speculations, Tumbbad 2, if it happens, is not going to have Sohum Shah in the lead role, instead, he will be donning the hat of either a director or a producer, or both.
Shah nowadays is basking in the success of Sony LIV’s popular political drama series Maharani 2. The actor has a number of projects in the pipeline, which also includes “Sanaa” with Radhika Apte and “Dahaad”.
