The animated coming-of-age comedy film Turning Red is all geared up to appear on your digital screens soon. It has already created a lot of buzz among viewers through its teaser and trailer.
Turning Red storyline follows an assertive, inept teenager named Meilin Lee aka Mei, who finds it very difficult to choose to stay a dutiful daughter of her overprotective mother and the mayhem of her growing age. Teenage Iykyk, and amid all this she suddenly turns into a Red giant panda whenever she is exhilarated and in trouble, owing to her ancestors’ mystic connection with pandas.
Disney+ Release Date
Initially, makers have planned to release the film in theatres but owing to the Omicron variant of Corona Virus they made a slight amend in the plans.
Now the film will premiere on the giant streaming platform Disney+ on 11 March 2022, though makers will release the film theatrically on those parts of the world where Disney+ is not available.
Star Cast of Turning Red
It stars Rosalie Chiang has given the voice of the titular character Meilin Lee aka Mei, Sandra Oh Mei’s slightly dominant Mom’s voice as Ming Lee, Mei’s best friend Miriam’s voice is given by Ava Morse.
Other voice artists Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Priya), Hyein Park (Mei’s another friend Abby), Orion Lee (Jin Lee, main leads father), Wai Ching Ho (main lead’s grandmother), Tristan Allerick Chen (Tyler), Addie Chandler (Mei’s love interest Devon), gave the voice to key roles.
Other actors who have given the voice in this coming of age comedy are Jordan Fisher, Josh Levi, Topher Ngo, Finneas O’Connell, Grayson Villanueva, Anne Marie, James Hong, Lori Tan Chinn, Lilian Lim, Mia Tagano, Sherry Cola, Sasha Roiz, and Lilly Sanfellippo have also given voice.
Teaser & Trailer
The teaser trailer of it was unveiled in July 2021 and the trailer was launched in Nov 2021. Both have been viewed over 3 crore times on SM platform YouTube. Turning Red is directed by Domee Shi, her notable works include Inside Out, Incredibles 2, Toy Story 4, etc.
With this, she also marked the record of Pixar’s first woman director who has solely directed a film for them.
