In a horrific incident that took place in Udaipur, Rajasthan, two men beheaded a tailor Kanhaiya Lal in broad daylight for sharing a post in Facebook in support of the suspended Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nupur Sharma.
What is most scary is that while murdering him in a brutal way, the culprits even shot a video which went viral on social media and is being shared again and again. There is a lot of anger in people after watching that video.
How & When the incident took place?
This incident took place on Tuesday, 28th June, in the afternoon, when Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor was at his shop which is situated in Udaipur City’s very crowded busy Dhan Mandi Market.
The two attackers, Mohammad Gaus and Mohammad Riyaz, came to his shop in disguise of customers. In the horrific video, we can see the tailor doing his work and measuring one of the men while the other one was making the video.
The man he was measuring suddenly attacked him with a sharp cleaver while the other man was recording the whole incident. Then they fled and posted the barbaric video on social media later.
In an another video the two man can be seen holding the sharp blood ridden weapons with which they murdered the tailor. They can be seen smiling and happily introducing each other saying that they have slaughtered the tailor for the insult of the prophet.
Also, they can see an open death threat to Prime Minister Modi saying “You have started but we will end this”. The police said they tried to behead the tailor but couldn’t, his neck was slit but the head was not severed. Now, the attackers have been arrested by the police.
Senior Police officer Hawa Singh Ghumaria asked the media not to circulate the video of murder due to its highly inflammatory content.
Murder’s Connection with the Prophet Row
Kanhaiya Lal’s murder has a direct connection with the Prophet Muhammad row which boiled the internet a few days ago, when a video of suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma went viral.
The video is of a TV debate in which she made a controversial remark against the Prophet which led to the harsh criticism of the Indian government by the Islamic countries and the boycott of Indian goods in Gulf countries.
Actually, Kanhaiya Lal shared a post in support of Nupur Sharma after which he was threatened multiple times. He even registered a complaint in a police station in which he stated that he should be provided security due the death threats.
