Silambarasan’s gangster drama “Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu” or “VTK” has hit the theatres, the film had created a huge buzz through its posters and trailers ahead of the release conversely it took an average start at the box office.
It is directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and penned by Jeyamohan, the film follows the struggles of Muthuveeran aka Muthu, he comes to Mumbai for his work life and gets sucked into the underworld.

Box Office Collection Day 1
If Tamil trade reports are to be believed, Silambarasan’s film performed below expectations on an opening day. VTK was expected to take a double-digit start at the box office considering its advance bookings and the hype it had created ahead of the release.
As per the industry tracker Manobal Vijayan, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu takes an average start of Rs 6.85 Cr on Day 1 (Thu) at the box office Tamil Nadu.

According to Vijayan, the highest grosser opener of 2022 (TN); Valimai (Rs 36.17 Cr), Beast (Rs 26.40 Cr), Vikram (Rs 20.61 Cr), ET (Rs 15.21 Cr), Thiruchitrambalam (Rs 9.52 Cr), Don (Rs 9.47 Cr).
VTK Screen Counts
As per reports of the Times of India, it has occupied a huge 500 screens in Tamil Nadu alone for the overall 800 screen counts. let us also inform you that, the dubbed Telugu version of Simbu’s film will be released on Sept 17. Earlier it was scheduled to release on the same day but due to the Telugu releases, makers had to push back the date for 2 days.
VTK Advance Bookings Reports
It has witnessed excellent advance bookings for the opening day, and the musical gangster drama has sold over 1.79L tickets worth Rs 3.39 crores, till Wednesday night. With 1.29 crore Chennai region is leading followed by Coimbatore at 30.53L, and Madurai at 17.46L.
