Sept 30th, Friday will mark the box office battle between the two biggies, “Vikram Vedha” and “Ponniyin Selvan-1”, both the flicks will see wide release, domestically, and have mounted on a huge budget.
Ettharkum Thunindhavan, Valimai, Vikram and Thiruchitrambalam emerged as commercial success at the box office in Tamil this year, while the Hindi film Industry saw only two films that reaped huge profits for its buyers, are The Kashmir Files and Bhool Bhuliayaa 2.
The recent release, Brahmastra is minting big but the collections are not on par due to the mixed talks, it is being said that it might not cross the distributor’s shares in its eventual run as it is made on a massive budget.

Vikram Vedha and PS-1 mounted on a huge budget
Ponniying Selvan is the dream project of multiple national award filmmaker Mani Ratnam and he has taken his time to complete the flick. The pan India film has been in the making for a long and will be out in the theatres in two parts. As per the reports, it is made on a huge 500 crores budget.
On the other, Vikram Vedha is made with a budget of 170 crores excluding, printing and advertisements, as per a report of Times of India.
Vikram Vedha and PS-1 Screen Counts
Both the big tickets will see a wide release at the box office, as per the recent reports, Vikram Vedha will occupy around 4100+ screens in India making the biggest ever release for Hrithik Roshan crossing War’s 4000 screens. And Ponniyin Selvan is expected to be released in around 4500 screens in the domestic market.
How’s the Hype?
A few days back the trailers of both flicks were unveiled which has taken our excitement to the next level. Vikram Vedha is a Hindi remake of a Tamil film of the same name, while PS-1 is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s novel Ponniyin Selvan, which has a cult following. Reports suggests that it will beat Vikram’s advance bookings report in TN for Day 1.
Box Office Collection
The advance bookings for both the flicks have been opened and the early projection is that both the flick will take a huge start at the box office. The good thing is that Vikram Vedha and Ponniyin Selvan come from different industries and will not affect each other’s business to a big extent.
Pen Marudhar is distributing the Hindi version of PS-1, and they are also one of the distribution partners of Vikram Vedha, reportedly. Hence, it is expected that they will distribute the films accordingly.
Going by the advanced trends, Vikram Vedha could take a start of Rs 12-15 crores, domestically while PS-1 is expected to draw in double-digit figures in the home market Tamil Nadu.
