Karthi starring Viruman has been released in cinemas, it is directed and written by M.Muthaiah and produced by Suriya and Jyothika under their own banner 2D Entertainment.
It stars Karthi, Aditi Shankar, Rajkiran, Prakash Raj, and Soori in the main lead roles and follows the storyline of a rivalry between the father (portrayed by Prakash Raj) and the son (portrayed by Karthi).

Karthi’s film Sulthan had seen the opening of Rs 5 Cr+ in the TN and thereby emerged as the highest opening day grosser of the actor’s career. The same was being expected from the actor’s latest release, for that it would need to take the start of Rs 5.5Cr+ gross in the home market. Going by the trade reports, it has garnered the same amount. Industry tracker, Ramesh Bala informed about the same through a tweet:

Reviews
The rural-based mass entertainer had already created much buzz among Tamil movie lovers ahead of its release, now the film opened with rave reviews from the critics. Kaushik LM rated the film 3 out of 5 stars, Industry tracker and critic Ramesh Bala gave 3.25 stars out of 5, Sreedhar Pillai and Rajasekar also praised the film.
Critics praised Karthi’s performance acing the villager’s role, Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music & BGM, cinematography, and action sequence while bashing the story and screenplay of the movie.
Screen Counts and Budget
Viruman has been released in 450+ theatres in the home market (Tamil Nadu) with it, it has become the widest release film of the actor’s career. Now it has surpassed Sulthan’s (2021) day 1 collection to emerge as the career-best opener for the actor. Viruman is said to be made on a budget Rs 25-30 Cr.
