Hindus across all over India is celebrating Guru Purnima with pujas and rituals. Guru Purnima is also known as ‘Vyas Purnima according to the Hindu scriptures on this day Ved Vyas was born, thus ‘Vyas Purnima.’ He is one of the most famous sages in Hindu mythology.
Ved Vyas is also the author of Mahabharata; not only did he write it but also he has played an essential role in the narration of the lives and times of a royal family of Hastinapur.
Vyas has also authored 18 Hindu ‘Purans.’ According to ‘Panchangs,’ the Hindu religious calendar during the month of Ashadha the full moon day is known as ‘Guru Purnima.’
According to the legends, the devotees offer prayers and gifts to their teachers and Gurus.

It is advised to chant this shloka during the puja, which means “Guru is verily the representative of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. He creates, sustains knowledge and destroys the weeds of ignorance. I salute such a Guru.”
