Reliance Jio, the telecom division of the oil-to-retail conglomerate Reliance Industries (RIL), has been handed over to Mukesh Ambani’s son Akash as a means of passing the torch to the next generation.
Akash has also been appointed as a non-executive director of Reliance Jio Infocomm. The $217 billion firm said in a statement that the appointment of Akash Ambani as Chairman of the Board was approved by the board on June 27, 2022.
Akash Ambani’s age
Akash Ambani, who was born on October 23, 1991, is currently 30 years old. He has also been intimately involved with the innovative and inclusive growth path mapped out by the Reliance Group’s consumer retail and digital services offerings.
As per the firm’s information, the 30-year old played a key role in the ground-breaking international investments made by digital giants and investors in 2020, which helped Jio become well-known among investors around the world.
Education and career
Mukesh and Nita Ambani’s eldest son is Akash Ambani. 2014 witnessed his graduation ceremony from Brown University with a degree in economics.
Since its introduction in late 2016, Akash Ambani has been employed by Reliance Industries’ telecom division. He began his career at Reliance Jio as a Director.

In 2019, Akash Ambani wed Shloka Mehta, a friend from his childhood.While attending the Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai, Akash and Shloka became friends who later decided to tie knots.
The eldest daughter of diamantaire Rusell Mehta and his wife Mona Mehta is Shloka Mehta. The family-run Indian/Belgian trading business Rosy Blue Diamonds has Russell Mehta as its MD for India.

Akash’s contribution to the company
According to the company, Akash has also concentrated on the development of new technologies and capabilities including blockchain and artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI-ML).
Akash contributed to the creation of the online community that surrounded Reliance Jio’s 4G service. In 2017, he contributed to the creation of the 4G-capable Jio Phone with an emphasis on India.
In 2020 with his twin sister Isha, who serves as director of Reliance Jio infocomm and Reliance Retail Ventures, Akash played a key role in RIL’s $5.7 billion transaction with Meta, formerly Facebook.
Akash Ambani’s siblings
Akash and Isha, are twins, and Anant, the youngest son, rounds up Ambani’s family. It is anticipated that Ambani will give Isha (30), who is married to Anand Piramal, control of the retail firm.
