Droupadi Murmu remarked on Tuesday that she is both astonished and thrilled. As a daughter of the soil, Droupadi Murmu said she would ask the BJD for support in the presidential elections.
By choosing a tribal woman for the top position, the Narendra Modi-led administration has now demonstrated the validity of the BJP’s campaign slogan, “Sabka saath, Sabka vishwas.” Murmu, a former tribal chief who is now a governor, expressed her surprise and joy at the NDA’s nomination of her for the position, on national television.
Murmu said that she was both happy and surprised. She had never considered running for the top position as a tribal woman from the Mayurbhanj district.
Murmu responded that she is “optimistic about support from all members of the Odisha Legislative Assembly and MPs” when asked if she will get support from Naveen Patnaik’s Biju Janata Dal (BJD), which currently holds over 2.8% of electoral college votes for the presidential elections.

Naveen Patnaik, the chief minister of Odisha, praised Draupadi Murmu and said it was a “great moment” for the residents of his coastal state.
