The government has launched the e-Shram portal on 26th August 2021. The e-Shram portal is a database of unorganized sector workers. e-SHRAM Portal was launched by Pradhan Mantri Narendra Modi. Whereas, the logo of the e-Shram portal has been launched by the Union Minister for Labour and Employment Bhupender Yadav.
Why E-Sharm Card
The Labor and Employment Ministry of India has started the E-SHRAM Portal to track and collect all information and data about laborers and workers of the unorganized sector.
The portal will be used to collect the data of unorganized sector workers through their registration details, and this data will be used to launch new schemes, make new policies, create more job opportunities for the welfare of unorganized sector workers and laborers in the future.
The main aim of an e-Shram portal launched by the government is to register 38 crores, unorganized workers, such as construction laborers, migrant workforce, street vendors, and domestic workers, etc.
How to Get e-Shram UAN
After the successful e-Shram Portal Registration, the workers will be issued an e-Shram card containing a 12 digit unique number, which in the future will help them in including them in various social security schemes.
The Ministry of Labour & Employment will provide the Unique Identification Number (UAN) Card for Who applies for an e-Shram Portal.

Those who worked in the unorganized sector as workers and laborers are eligible to apply for the e-Shram Portal.

How To Register for e-Shram Card
Interested candidates can follow the below-mentioned step-by-step procedure to apply online on an e-shram portal self-registration. Candidates can also make self-registration on the e-SHRAM Portal using a mobile number linked with Aadhar Card.

- Visit the official website of E-Shram: register.eshram.gov.in
- You will see the “Self Register” section.
- Enter your Aadhar linked mobile number
- Fill up details and Captcha Code.
- Select the Yes / No option for EPFO and ESIC then send OTP.
- Enter the required details like Aadhaar Number, Aadhaar linked active mobile number, Bank account details.
- Upload all required documents.
- Click on the submit button and take a printout of the application form.
