Archana Gautam, a former Bigg Boss contestant, and her father allegedly received jeers outside the party headquarters. On Saturday, the Uttar Pradesh Congress put a six-year suspension on Gautam’s primary membership in the party.
Archana and her father were seen in a social media video appealing for “help” in front of the Congress party office. In the video, Gautam and her father can be seen being encircled by individuals who are accused of obstructing her access to the party office and acting inappropriately toward her.
Archana said she wished to express her congratulations to Priyanka Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge on the Women’s Bill’s passage in Parliament. But when they arrived, a group of men gathered outside the office and assaulted the actor and her father.
What is Archana Gautam-Congress Controversy?
In an order issued on Saturday, the state unit’s Disciplinary Committee declared that Gautam had been barred from the party’s primary membership for a period of six years. A show cause notice for indiscipline was also served on her on May 31 of this year, and it said that she was supposed to respond within a week, but she didn’t.
The change occurred a day after she and her father allegedly encountered abuse while attempting to join the party headquarters at this location on Friday afternoon. According to the actress, she wanted to congratulate President Mallikarjun Kharge and party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on last week’s passage of the Women’s Bill in Parliament.
When did Archana Gautam join Congress?
In November 2021, Archana became a member of the Indian National Congress (INC). For the 2022 election for the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, she received a ticket from the Hastinapur (Assembly constituency). She was one of the eight candidates running in this election. She lost the election to BJP candidate Dinesh Khatik.
