The air quality in the national capital, Delhi, has plunged into the severe category for the first time this season. The authorities concerned have indicated that the situation can get even worse in the coming week.
Air quality above 200 is considered bad for health. Also, an AIQ above 400 is considered extremely dangerous, and even people with good health can tend to see some negative effects on their health.

Minister Gopal Rai shared that a request has been made to the Delhi government and private offices to allow fifty percent of the workforce to work from home. As the city’s air quality continued to deteriorate, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal presided over a high-level meeting on Monday with authorities and members of the cabinet.
Ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj of the Environment Department in Delhi, as well as representatives from the relevant departments, were present at the meeting.
Atishi Singh, the education minister of Delhi tweeted (X), “As pollution levels continue to remain high, primary schools in Delhi will stay closed till 10th November. For Grades 6-12, schools are being given the option of shifting to online classes.”
