The 18-year-old student of Jadavpur University, Kolkata, died on August 10 after falling from the second floor of his hostel. He was a first-year student who was enrolled in a Bengali honors course and was a resident of the Nadia district.
The student was taken to a nearby hospital, where he lost his last breath. Now some people are raising the question that it could be suicide and not an accident.
As per the latest update in the case, a total of 13 students have been arrested by the police in connection with the deaths of their fellow students. The students who are arrested include some current and former students of Jadavpur University.
Also, the dean of the science faculty, Professor Subenoy Chakraborty, has resigned from his post, citing some personal reasons.
Jadavpur University Student Death Cause
According to the information, the boy informed his mother that he wasn’t feeling well on Wednesday. He also admitted his fear to her. He explained what had happened to his mother and urged her to come over.
He claimed to have a lot to tell her,” the uncle recalled, adding that his nephew quickly hung off the phone and later declined his mother’s call.
The uncle dismissed rumors that his nephew committed suicide by stating, “Of course, it was ragging. Why else would a young man with a sound mind pass away suddenly?
Till now, no particular report has come forward to prove if it was suicide, but Kunal Chattopadhyay, a professor of comparative literature at Jadavpur University, also claimed that the student was being ragged by his fellow students.
Deceased Student was Paraded Naked
As per the recent development in the case, the deceased student was paraded naked in the corridor of the main hostel’s second floor. After which he fell from the second floor of his hostel.
The teen was sexually molested and ragged and was also forced to undress in room No. 70. Police revealed that one of the arrested accused also created a WhatsApp group to mislead cops. He also tried to misdirect police so that the ragging part could be concealed, said One of the investigating officers.
