The voting for the Panchayat election in Maharashtra was held on 7,751 Panchayats across the state on Dec 18. Even though the official statistics for Panchayat polls are yet awaited, political parties have started staking claims.
Recently, Arvind Gajbhiye, Nagpur president, said, “Out of the 236 GPs which went to poll, BJP and allied panels have secured Sarpanch posts in 131.” BJP claimed to have got the mandate, at the state level too, Deputy CM Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis said talking to ANI, ” People have given a mandate to BJP and Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena in gram panchayat polls.”

Devendra Fadnavis also informed that according to the information received BJP and Shinde groups have won 3029-Gram Panchayats. BIP, president of Maharashtra Unit Chandrashekhar Bawanule, on Tue, claimed that the party had won more than 3,500 seats in the state, while the Eknath Shinde faction of Shiva Sena won 1000+ seats.
