Gujarati folk singer Devayat Khavad, who ran away after a video of him and his friends brutally beating a man went viral, has now surrendered himself to the Rajkot Police.
Khavad and his two friends were booked for attacking a builder named Mayursinh Rana with a pipe. This incident took place on December 7. The accused presented himself at the crime branch on December 16.
He has been arrested and taken on remand to know details about the other two accused in this case. Amid all this, a further hearing will be conducted by the court today.

In the viral CCTV footage, we see victim Rana walking on the road. Suddenly a car stopped before him, and two men started thrashing and beating him with pipes. They then ran away. The incident took place at Sureshvar Chowk on Yagnik Road.
After the incident, the builder and his family directly written a letter to the PMO for justice, as the accused were not immediately arrested by police. An FIR was registered against him under IPC Section 307.
Later on January 16, he surrendered himself to the crime branch, and an affidavit has also been submitted to the court by “A” division police to prevent him from getting anticipatory bail. The affidavit has information about three cases filed against Khavad in the past.
