India’s star wrestlers who have been protesting in Jantar Mantar against WFI president and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh are not allowed to protest in the site. The Delhi Police has cleared the protesting site where they’ve been protesting for last few months.
Earlier, the athletes had called off their protest in January after assurances from the sports ministry, but they had to protest in Delhi again as they claim that no action has been taken yet against the WFI chief.
The protestors made serious allegations against Singh, including sexual harassment of women wrestlers, physical abuse, dictatorial functioning, and financial irregularities in the management of WFI. While the wrestlers are firm on their allegation against Brij Bhushan, he is denying all the allegation.
Who is Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh?

Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is an Indian politician from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and is currently serving as the member of parliament from Kaiserganj, Uttar Pradesh, and also the chief of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).
Brij Bhushan Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was born on January 8, 1957, and he studied law at Awadh University.

The six-time Lok Sabha member, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, is the son of Shri Jagdamba Sharan Singh and Smt. Pyari Devi Singh. He got married to Ketki Devi Singh who has been a BJP MP and district panchayat president in 1981.

It is being said about Brij Bhushan Singh that he does not need the party in his area, but the party needs him. Brij Bhushan started his political career as an MP in 1991, when the BJP fielded him against Anand Singh in Gonda for his active role in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.
Brij Bhushan Singh has served in Parliament six times, five times with the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and once with the Samajwadi Party. As a BJP candidate, he was elected to the 10th Lok Sabha from the Gonda constituency in Uttar Pradesh in 1991.
He was re-elected to the 13th Lok Sabha from the same constituency in 1999, and in 2004, he was re-elected to the 14th Lok Sabha on the BJP ticket from the Balrampur constituency in Uttar Pradesh state. He joined the Samajwadi Party on July 20, 2008, after the BJP dismissed him for cross-voting in parliament during the 2008 Lok Sabha vote of confidence.

Harassment of wrestlers
Brij Bhushan was caught on tape slapping a wrestler on stage during a junior wrestling event in the year 2021.
In January 2023, a group of Olympians and international wrestlers, including Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik, and others, staged a sit-in demanding that the federation be disbanded owing to Brij Bhushan’s sexual harassment of female wrestlers.
After assurances from the sports ministry, the wrestlers called off their protest in January. The wrestlers have restarted their protest in April 2023 because the authorities have taken no action against them.
On April 28, 2023, after the intervention of the Supreme Court of India, the Delhi Police registered two FIRs against him. One of the FIRs was registered under the POCSO Act (The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012) for offences against a minor. A second FIR was registered on similar grounds on the complaint of a few adult female wrestlers.

Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh was also involved in the 1992 demolition of the Babri Masjid. He was the principal suspect in the case, however the Supreme Court of India ultimately cleared him. Following that, he was charged under the TADA (Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act in the same year for assisting Dawood Ibrahim in organising the J.J. Hospital Shootout.
