On December 14, a day after the Parliament security breach, 14 MPs from opposition parties such as the Congress and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam were suspended until the session ended. Also, several changes have been made to the paragraph from a security perspective since the incident.
Moreover, four individuals, among them Lalit Jha, identified as the mastermind behind the breach, have been apprehended. As per Delhi Police reports, Lalit Jha voluntarily presented himself at the police station, leading to his subsequent arrest.
Delhi’s Patiala House Court granted a seven-day custodial remand for all four individuals arrested in connection with the breach of security at Parliament. Additional Sessions Judge Dr. Hardeep Kaur permitted the accused, namely Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Amol Dhanraj Shinde, and Neelam Azad, to travel to Mumbai, Mysore, and Lucknow for further investigation into the actual motives behind their actions.
Who is Lalit Jha?
Lalit Jha, the individual responsible for the breach of Parliament security, hails from Kolkata and works as a teacher. According to a police report, Jha drew inspiration from the renowned freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.
He purportedly recorded videos showing the suspects deploying smoke canisters outside the parliament and passed these videos to the founder of an NGO to guarantee media attention. Additionally, he serves as the general secretary of an NGO led by Nilaksha Aich, the founder to whom he forwarded the incident videos to ensure their security.

As per police reports, Jha is characterized as a reserved individual who used to teach local students. While there isn’t much information on Lalit Jha’s family and educational background, a few years back, he arrived alone in Burrabazar, Kolkata, maintaining a discreet presence. However, two years ago, he unexpectedly departed the area, as disclosed by a tea stall owner in the vicinity to PTI.
Five men and a woman face charges under the anti-terrorism law, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), along with sections of the Indian Penal Code. Some journalists outside the parliament had the opportunity to interview one of the accused as she was being escorted away by the police.
Identifying herself as Neelam, she asserted that she had no affiliation with any organization. She described herself as an ordinary citizen without employment, expressing her intention to protest against the government’s crackdown on people.
