The Punjabi rapper-singer Shubh is facing backlash in India since September 2023. Now his video from a stage show, shows that he is wearing a hoodie, back prints ft assassination of India’s former prime minister Indira Gandhi.

These days, a lot of videos are going viral on social media, where the members of BJYM are seen toring down Shubh’s posters. These videos have definitely created fear in the minds of people who will be attending Shubh’s concert in Mumbai.

BookMyShow Cancelled Shubh’s Concert

BookMyShow on Wednesday announced the cancellation of the upcoming India tour of Shubh. The announcement came amidst widespread clamor on social media. Also, the platform has said that the refund of the tickets has started.

Now Moj app has also announced that they’ve taken down all the songs of Shubh from their music library.

Shubhneet Singh is the real name of the singer, and he was born on August 10, 1997, in Punjab, India. He rose to fame with his song “We Rollin” in 2021. Shubh predominately works in the Punjabi music industry, and his songs are quite popular among youngsters.

Shubh did his schooling in Punjab and then moved to Canada for his further studies. Also, there’s not much information available online regarding the singer’s family and siblings.

Shubh comes from a well-to-do family. His father, Avtaar Singh, is a professor, and so is his mother, Jagjeet Kaur. He also has an elder brother named Ravneet Singh, who is also a popular face in the Punjabi industry.

Ravneet Singh is an anchor, actor, and singer. Shubh’s brother Ravneet completed his schooling at Delhi’s Don Bosco School and Birla Vidya Niketan. Later, he graduated from Patiala with a degree in mass communication.

Some people believe Shubh is a Khalistani supporter because once he shared a social media post depicting a distorted map of India, omitting Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir has also gone viral, leaving all disappointed. The viral post was shared by Shubh when the Punjab Police were hunting for a fugitive named Amritpal Singh.

Virat Kohli unfollowed Shubh

After the backlash, several notable cricketers, like Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Hardik Pandya, among others, have unfollowed the singer on social media. Shubh used to be the favorite singer of Virat Kohli, and he was spotted multiple times jamming to his music.

The news of Shubh facing backlash came just a day after Canadian PM Justin Trudeau criticized India for the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Trudeau said the Indian government’s agents are responsible for the assassination of Khalistani extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Also, Boat has also decided to withdraw their sponsorship for Shubh’s upcoming concert in India. The team of Boat released a statement in which they stated, “”At boAt, while our commitment to the incredible music community runs deep, we are first and foremost a true Indian brand. When we became aware of the remarks made by artist Shubh earlier this year, we chose to withdraw our sponsorship from the tour.”
