The African-American Singer Mary Millben,all the way from America will be performing at 75th Independence Day celebrations on 15 August and she will be coming to India on special invitation by the Indian Government.
Who is Mary Millben?
40-Years-old Mary Millben is an African-American Singer and also she is the cultural Ambassador of the United States of America. Mary is very well known for performing ‘Om Jai Jagadish Hare’ and ‘Jana Gana Mana’ and she is the first African American performer to be invited to India by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
Millben will be performing for the very first time in India and she will be making an appearance at the Indiaspora Global Forum to celebrate the country’s 75th year of Independence and 10th year of Indiaspora.
M R Rangaswami founder of Indiaspora has also invited Millben and she will open the forum by singing the Indian national anthem and she will also perform with International piano prodigy Lydian Nadhaswaram on August 10.
Lydian Nadhaswaram is a very young musician, all the way from Chennai, Tamil Nadu and Lydian has also won ‘The World’s Best’ on CBS, and a prize money of $1 million.

Mary Millben shared a special statement in which she said, she is thrilled to experience this treasured motherland, celebrate her meaningful relationship with India and Indian communities across the world, and highlight the important democratic alliance between the United States and India during this important observance of India’s Independence.
Millben also added “As I prepare for my first trip to India, my heart’s sentiments echo Dr King’s words, ‘to other countries, I may go as a tourist, but to India, I come as a pilgrim.”
After Delhi Millben will be travelling to Lucknow as well.
