The Karnataka election results are finally here, and the Indian National Congress has won 135 out of 224 assembly seats, defeating Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) returning to power in the state. Lately, everybody has their eyes set on the Congress Party and who they will choose as their next Chief Minister of the state.
There were several contenders in the race to become the next Chief Minister of Karnataka, but finally, two names came forward and there was tough competition between DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah.
Siddaramaiah Became the New CM of Karnataka
The swearing-in event was conducted by Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot and took place in Bengaluru’s Kanteerava Stadium. This is the same stadium where Siddaramaiah took his oath of office as Karnataka’s chief minister in 2013.
Once again, Siddaramaiah took oath as the new Chief Minister of Karnataka, and DK Shivakumar took oath as the Deputy CM of Karnataka.

After the 2013 Karnataka elections, Siddaramaiah, who had joined the Congress in 2008, was elected chief minister. Yathindra Siddaramaiah, son of Siddaramaiah, said, “We will do anything to keep the BJP out of power. In the interest of Karnataka, my father should become Chief Minister.”

The head of the Karnataka Congress is DK Shivakumar. The go-to person for Congress party members, the eight-time MLA from the Kanakapura constituency has a strong base of support. Shivakumar has always been a member of the Congress and has never lost an election since he won it for the first time in 1989.
D. K. Shivakumar, the leader of the Karnataka Congress, has once again won the Kanakapura seat in Karnataka. Prior to that, he was ahead of JD(S) leader B Nagaraju and BJP leader and Minister R Ashoka by more than 20,500 votes.
