There is strong belief that Uddhav Thackeray may soon step down as the chief minister of Maharashtra as the number of Shiv Sena rebels grows. After he called a Cabinet meeting at 1 pm and a meeting of all Shiv Sena MLAs and MPs at 5 pm, this rumour gained momentum.
Additionally, Sena MP Sanjay Raut acknowledged on Twitter that the recent political upheaval is causing the Assembly to be eventually dissolved. According to insiders, Thackeray would likely consult his coalition partners before deciding whether to resign and ask that the House be dissolved, he will speak soon on ongoing political crisis in the state.
Earlier Chhagan Bhujbal, an NCP MLA and Maharashtra Minister, stated to the media: he hasn’t heard anything about CM’s resignation. He has no knowledge about it. He said he has no idea about what Sanjay Raut stated in his statement..
MVA Government in danger of failing
Tuesday saw a significant political event when Eknath Shinde, a top Shiv Sena leader, and several other party MLAs went into seclusion at the Le Meridian hotel in Surat. In the Maharashtra administration under Uddhav Thackeray, Shinde currently oversees PWD (Public Undertakings) and Urban Development.
According to sources, these leaders are upset with the Sena and are in contact with the BJP. This becomes significant in light of some Shiv Sena MLAs casting multiple ballots for the BJP in the recently held MLC elections.
Ajay Choudhari to be Legislative Party’s new leader
Only 19 MLAs, including Aaditya Thackeray, attended a meeting that the Shiv Sena leader held at his Mumbai home at lunchtime. Later, MLA Ajay Choudhari succeeded Shinde as the leader of the Legislative Party, showing that the Sena is not willing to accede to the rebels’ demands.
When Shinde and the Shiv Sena’s secretary Milind Narvekar met to discuss a truce, the latter reportedly requested that the party form an alliance with the BJP once more. Eknath Shinde reported that a total of 40 Sena MLAs are present in Guwahati after arriving earlier in the day.
