The recruitment comes as a golden opportunity for candidates who want to build their careers in the banking sector. Therefore, lakhs of candidates apply for the examination every year, leading to tough competition among them to grab this opportunity.

The selection process for IBPS probationary officers consists of a three-phase examination process. Applicants only submit a single IBPS PO application for all three phases, but the IBPS PO exam admit cards will be made available separately.

The notification for IBPS PO 2023 will be released in July/August 2023 and the eligible candidate will e able to fill the form. Those who clear all the stages and are eligible will be posted as PO/Management Trainees in various participating PSB. The Selection Process of IBPS PO 2023 includes the following stages:

  • Preliminary Examination
  • Mains Examination
  • Interview

IBPS PO 2023 Preliminary Examination

The prelims exam is the first stage of the IBPS PO exam and is qualifying in nature. The exam consists of 100 objective-type questions, which are divided into three sections. For each section, candidates get 20 minutes, and the total exam time is 60 minutes. The marks from the preliminary exam won’t be added to your final score.

IBPS PO 2023 Preliminary Examination

The three sections are general English, quantitative aptitude, and reasoning ability. Every incorrect answer will result in a 0.25 mark deduction. Candidates should meet the maximum section and overall cutoffs to qualify for subsequent rounds.

IBPS PO 2023 Main Examination

Candidates who pass the preliminary exam will take the main exam. This is an important part of the selection process, as the marks obtained in the mains will be added to the final merit list. There are 2 parts in the exam, which include both objectives as well as descriptive questions.

IBPS PO 2023 Main Examination

The 5 sections include General English, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, Computer Awareness, English Language Easy, and Letter Writing. Candidates must meet the overall and maximum cutoffs to qualify for the interview round.

Candidates get three hours to finish the objective section and thirty minutes to finish the descriptive section. Every wrong answer will result in a 0.25 mark deduction.

IBPS PO 2023 Interview Round

Those who will clear the main examination will appear for the interview round. All the participating banks will conduct the interview in various locations all across the nation. Candidates need to carry the interview call letter along with other supporting documents at the interview venue.

The interview lasts for 15 to 20 minutes. Out of 100 marks, candidates have to score 40 marks (for UR) and 35 marks (for reserved categories) to be included in the merit list.

IBPS PO 2023: Important Documents

At the time of the interview, candidates need to carry the following documents for background verification purposes:

  • Interview Call letter for IBPS PO
  • Voter ID, Aadhar card, driving license, and other photo IDs
  • Birth Certificate.
  •  Intermediate and high school mark sheet
  • Graduation Degree
  • Asset and income certifications provided by the GoI (if any)
  • Caste certificate (if any)
  • Disability Certificate (if any)
  • No-objection letter (for government or PSU employees)

IBPS PO 2023 Final Selection

For the purpose of determining the final result, the weighting for the online main exam and interview will be taken into consideration. The final merit list will be prepared with a weightage ratio of 80:20. The final cutoff is determined by the number of openings as well as the highest marks obtained by candidates.

The IBPS will release the final cut-off category-wise. Those who make it onto the merit list will be appointed to one of the PSBs as per their score and preference.

IBPS PO 2023 Provisional Allotment 

The seat allotment will be based on the number of active vacancies in a particular bank and the score obtained by the candidates. The bank will first allot the candidates who have scored higher on the merit list. Candidates can mark their preferred bank in the allotment software.

If seats are available, the bank will assign the candidate; otherwise, the software will consider other preferences indicated by candidates.

If two or more candidates have the same score, the older candidate will be ranked higher than the others. Depending on the number of applicants, a reserve list for up to 10% of the openings in each category may be created for the post of PO.

      IBPS PO employees receive a base salary of Rs. 23700. Other allowances exist as well for things like travel, housing costs, and medical costs.
