To be eligible for the SSC JHT 2024 exam, the candidates must be either citizens of India or
- A subject of Nepal, OR
- A subject of Bhutan, OR
- A Tibetan refugee who migrated to India before January 1, 1962, OR
- A person who migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and East African countries, including Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam
- The candidates, other than Indian citizens, must possess a certificate of eligibility issued in their favour by the Government of India.

- Master’s Degree of a recognised university in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of the examination at the degree level, OR
- Master’s Degree from a recognised university in any subject other than Hindi or English, with English as the medium and Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level, OR
- Master’s Degree from a recognised university in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi as the medium and English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level, OR
- Master’s Degree from a recognised university in any subject other than Hindi and English, with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects, or either of the two as a medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level.

- Recognised diploma or certificate courses in translation from Hindi and English and vice versa, or two years experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central or State Government Offices, including Government of India undertakings.

Postcode E includes Senior Hindi Translator in various Central Government Ministries/Departments/Offices):
- Master’s Degree of a recognised university in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of the examination at the degree level, OR
- Master’s Degree of a recognised university in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of the examination at the degree level, OR

The age limit to apply for SSC Junior Hindi Translator is 18 to 30 years. As per the rule of GoI, candidates who belong to reserved categories such as SC/ST, and OBC will get 3 to 5 years of relaxation on the upper age limit.
