The examination is conducted every year by the commission for the recruitment of deserving candidates to the post of Scientific Assistant in the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). It is the “Group B” non-gazetted and non-ministerial post in Level 6 of the pay matrix.

SSC Scientific Assistant IMD 2023 Selection Process

Before starting your SSC Scientific Assistant IMD 2023 preparation, you must know the selection process of the recruitment. The selection of the candidates will be made on the basis of how they perform in the Computer-based Examination. The Selection Process for the SSC Scientific Assistant IMD 2023 is as follows:

• Computer-based Examination (CBE)
• Document Verification (DV)

Computer-based Examination (CBE)

The Computer-Based Examination (CBE) for SSC Scientific Assistant IMD 2023 will be conducted in two parts: Part I and Part II. While Part I comprises four subjects carrying 25 questions each, Part II comprises 100 questions.

Therefore, the total number of questions asked in the whole examination is 200, each worth one mark. The nature of the questions asked in the examination is objective-type. Also, there is a negative marking of 0.25 for each wrong answer. The total time allotted for the examination is 2 hours.

Document Verification (DV)

The candidates who clear the Computer-Based Examination will be called for the Document Verification round before being allotted the post of Scientific Assistant in the Indian Meteorological Department.

Document Verification (DV) will be done by the Indian Meteorological Department, which will also issue the Admission Certificates for DV to candidates through its website.

Candidates are therefore advised to regularly visit the official website of IMD after their CBE is cleared. Also, a notice regarding the document verification will be uploaded on the website of the Staff Selection Commission.

Along with the Admission Certificate and two passport-size recent colour photographs, the candidates must also bring the original documents mentioned below, along with their photocopies:

• A valid ID proof having the same date of birth as printed on the Admission Certificate such as an Aadhaar Card/ Voter ID Card/ PAN Card/ Passport/ Driving License, etc.
• Matriculation/Secondary Certificate
• Educational Qualification Certificate
• Caste/Category Certificate (If belongs to a reserved category)
• Person with Disabilities Certificate in the required format (If applicable)
• Relevant Certificate required for Ex-Servicemen
• Relevant Certificate for Age Relaxation
• No Objection Certificate (for candidates already employed in any government undertaking)
