Eid al- Fitr is celebrated on the first day of the tenth month of the Islamic calendar which is called Shawwal by the Muslim community around the world.
Eid al-Fitr is one of the two most important celebrations of Islam, which is also known as the Feast of Breaking the Fast. Another important festival is Eid al-Adha which is considered bigger than Eid al-Fitr.
This festival marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan or Ramzan, during which people refrain themselves from eating and drinking anything from dawn-to the sunset.
On the day of Eid al-Fitr, people gather in the mosques and community centers or in open areas, such as fields, to offer the special prayers of Eid, called Salat or Salah.
After offering the prayers, people visit exchanges greetings of Eid by hugging their fellow Muslims and inviting them on Daawat for the feast (Iftar Party). They also exchange sweets with their relatives and pay Zakat to help the needy ones.
This year, the festival is likely to fall on April 22, so ready to do preparations for the holy festival and greet each other with love and happiness. Arab countries have already seen the moon on the evening of 20th April, now they’re celebrating Eid on 21st of April.
