Haryali Teej holds great significance to Hindu devotees, and this auspicious festival is celebrated in the Sawan month (according to the Hindu calendar, Sawan is the fifth month that falls between July and August).
Haryali Teej is also known as Haryali because it falls in the rainy season and because of this there is greenery everywhere.
Hariyali Teej is majorly celebrated in the northern states of India including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand.
Haryali Teej 2023 Date
Other than Haryali Teej there are two other teej named Hartalika Teej and Kajari Teej. Haryali Teej is observed on Shukla paksha Tritiya in Shravana month and two days before Nag Panchmi. In 2023 the Haryali Teej will be on August 19th.
The third phase of the lunar cycle, known as Tritiya Tithi, will commence at 8:01 pm on August 18 and conclude at 10:19 pm on August 19

History of Haryali Teej

Hariyali Teej is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati who is known as “Teej Mata”. According to Hindu Scriptures, this was the day when Lord Shiva accepted Goddess Parvati as his wife, and for that Goddess Parvati has to fast and austere herself for several years then Lord Shiva accepted her during her 108th birth.
Haryali Teej Significance
Haryali Teej holds great significance for the devotees of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. On this day all the married women observe fast and pray to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati for their happy and prosperous married life. The women also dress up in green-cloured sarees and wear green bangles and apply Heena on their hands.

During this festival, women make groups and sing traditional Teej songs and prepare swings to celebrate this festival. Women offer fruits, flowers, Bailpatri, and rice coated in turmeric to the Goddess Parvati and pray for their husband’s long life.
Families send gifts to their daughters and their in-laws which is known as “Sindhara ”. The Haryali Teej is also known as Sindhara Teej. The gifts contain clothes, henna, bangles, homemade sweets, etc.
