Friendship is one of the most valuable assets in all of our lives. International Friendship Day is celebrated to promote a feeling of friendship and to resolve all conflicts.
International Friendship Day is observed on 30 July after being promoted by the United Nations. However countries like India, Malaysia, Bangladesh, UAE, and the USA celebrate Friendships Day on the first Sunday of August, and in the year 2023, it will be observed on 7 August.
International Friendship Day History
In 1930, the founder of Hallmark Cards, Joyce Hall first proposed the idea of Friendship Day. A day where people can celebrate their camaraderie and can enjoy themselves with their friends. He shared this day to be celebrated on August 2.
However, people were quick to realize that it is only a stratagem to sell greeting cards. But still in most of the countries across Asia, Friendship day is celebrated on August 2.
But the Idea of International friendship Day was proposed by World Friendship Crusade, an International civil organization that campaigns for encouraging peaceful culture on July 30, 1958.
And later on April 27, 2011, the United Nations General Assembly declared July 30 as official International Friendship Day.

International Friendship Day Significance
This day has a huge significance not only for individuals but for different countries and cultures. This day is the remembrance for humankind that we need to live together and we need to resolve all the conflicts together
According to the UN general Assembly, this day encourages all member states of the UN to promote friendship among all people, regardless of race, nationality, religion, or gender.

- Go on a trip of a day or two.
- Spend time with your friends and tell them what they mean to you.
- If any of your friends are going through a time mentally or physically tell them that you understand them.
