Everyone wants a beautiful environment and a healthy life but no one wants to do things that will make the environment clean and live healthier. Taking plastic as an example we use 160,000 plastic bags every second.
Plastic is very destructive to Mother Nature. We can use paper bags for many things because plastic contains many chemicals that pollute the soil, affect the food chain, and are harmful to animals that drink water from rivers or underground. Plastic bags are extremely expensive to recycle.
We human ourselves brings changes in mother nature and imbalances everything. Everything can’t come in a plastic bag so we can start using paper bags or cloth bags for taking a step to save the environment.
Paper Bag Day History
Every 12 July paper bag is celebrated as an American inventor in 1852 made the first paper bag machine. After the machine’s invention in 1859 William Goodale’s designed how to fold paper bags. On July 12th, he was granted a patent.
Further Margaret E. Knight in 1871 another machine was designed which can make flat-bottom paper bags. Knight was also known as the “mother of grocery bags”. Improvement and inventions were going on.
In 1883 invention of the square- the bottom paper bag was invented by Charles Stilwell. He makes the bags easier to fold and store. Further in 1912, the invention of handles in carrying bags was done by Walter Deubener.

The term significance refers to the importance and meaning of anything. The significance of paper bag day is to make people aware and make them understand the harms and effects of plastic bags on mother nature.
Plastic bags are not quickly decomposable and biodegradable. If we want to decompose plastic it is going to take 10000 years. Which is a very long period. after decomposing, the soil will also be affected.
Paper bags are made up of wood which is very easily recyclable, decomposable and biodegradable and also does not affect the soil as badly as how much plastic does.
The theme for 2022 plastic day is “If You’re ‘fantastic’, Do Something ‘dramatic’ To Cut The ‘Plastic’, Use ‘Paper Bags’.
Make every effort to reduce, reuse, and recycle plastic bags. Avoid using plastic bags in favor of paper bags. We have to use paper bags to preserve our nature and plants for future generations.
