The festival represents the endless love of the brother-sister connection, which is not limited to blood interpersonal relationships. It is also observed by cousins, sister and sister-in-law (Bhabhi), fraternal aunt (Bua), nephew (Bhatija), and other relatives.
Raksha Bandhan History
Mahabharat is a story that gives us many lessons and teaches us how to live a beautiful and honest life so from Mahabharat only the concept of Raksha Bandhan has come. In Mahabharata, one day Lord Krishna cut his finger and lots of blood started coming out.
When Draupadi saw that she immediately tore a piece of cloth from her saree and cover the finger with the cloth piece to stop the bleeding. The small cloth piece was then transformed into rakhi.
Krishna promised her that he would protect her from all evils throughout his life because of the sacred thread she tied to the cloth.
When the Kauravas tried to disrobe Draupadi by yanking her hair, dragging her to the court, and manhandling her, Krishna saves her pride by offering immeasurable large amounts of cloth.
